Delphine Cole made her first feature for less than the catering budget of a studio film. It just won the top prize at Meridian.
“Constraints are a gift,” she says. “When you can’t afford the obvious version, you’re forced to find the interesting one.”
She is already turning down offers. “I don’t want a career. I want a body of work. Those are very different things.”
